A Message from the Head teacher

Welcome from the Executive Headteacher

In my position as Executive Headteacher with overall responsibility for all three schools within the Manchester Islamic Educational Trust (MIET), I would like to welcome you to Manchester Muslim Preparatory School.

Since the founding of MIET over 25 years ago, and the subsequent establishment of our schools, we have strived to provide a modern, FAITH based education, full of high-quality LEARNING, leading to a fulfilling LIFE for all our students.

As we look to the future we can see that whatever the age or gender of your child, the MIET family of schools will provide them with a rich and empowering education, enhanced by excellent experiences and opportunities outside the classroom. All this is developed and delivered within a highly committed and appropriate Islamic context.

Our values of Faith, Learning and Life encapsulate this philosophy and I hope you will choose us to guide your child through their formative years.

Mrs M Mohammed
Executive Headteacher

Welcome to Manchester Muslim Preparatory School

For more than 25 years, Manchester Muslim Preparatory School (MMPS) has been serving the community with our mission to deliver a holistic approach to education. In a continually changing world, our fundamental aim remains the same: to ‘create a caring and warm atmosphere in which pupils can develop their full potential’ through our Trust-wide shared values of FAITH, LEARNING and LIFE.

Children learn best in an environment where they feel happy and secure and our ‘pupils thrive because they feel safe, valued and supported’ (Ofsted, 2018).

It is our unwavering belief that during their early years our children benefit from a solid foundation. At MMPS, we strive to instil confidence in themselves and their faith as British Muslims to serve them well throughout the rest of their education; and ultimately become people with purpose, who are proud of their identity and able to impact positively on the world around them.

School goes beyond learning and being book smart – we want to nourish our children’s souls too and think big! We want to truly foster a strong connection and understanding of Allah, a love of the Quran and an aspiration to follow in the footsteps of the best of humankind, our Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him). A faith fuelled by love and free from confusion and distortion.

We welcome you to our MMPS community and endeavour to work alongside you in establishing a legacy in our next generation who can exceed all our expectations and with Allah’s Will, surpass us.

Our Ethos

Core values of Faith, Learning, and Life

Why a Muslim School?

Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. While many families recognize the benefits of faith-based education, there are often misconceptions about what it means to attend a Muslim school. At Manchester Muslim Preparatory School (MMPS), we aim to provide clarity and assurance by addressing some of these common concerns.

My child will be too sheltered

A common concern among parents is that a Muslim school may be overly protective, limiting students’ exposure to the wider world. In reality, MMPS fosters a broad, inclusive, and well-rounded education that prepares students for real-life experiences.

  • Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum guidelines, ensuring that students receive a rigorous and comprehensive education.
  • Pupils engage in extracurricular activities, educational trips, and inter-school competitions that provide them with varied experiences beyond the classroom.
  • We encourage independent thinking, critical reasoning, and problem-solving skills to equip students for future challenges.
My child will not mix with other faiths.

Another misconception is that Muslim schools isolate students from those of other faiths. At MMPS, we actively encourage respectful engagement with different communities and cultures.

  • We participate in interfaith activities, educational visits, and community service projects that promote mutual understanding and respect.

  • Our students learn about different religions as part of their education, fostering an appreciation for diversity.

  • Many of our graduates move on to mainstream secondary schools and universities, where they integrate seamlessly with students from various backgrounds.

My child will not achieve academically.

Some may worry that a faith-based education might compromise academic excellence. However, at MMPS, we pride ourselves on delivering high academic standards alongside strong moral and spiritual development.

  • Our students consistently perform well in key subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science, often exceeding national expectations.

  • Ofsted has recognized MMPS for creating a positive learning environment where pupils ‘thrive because they feel safe, valued, and supported.’

  • We prepare students for future success by nurturing a growth mindset, resilience, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Curriculum

Curriculum Overview

Balanced academic and faith-based education. We follow the National Curriculum, but go beyond it –enriching it with Islamic studies, Quran, Religious Studies, KS2 Arabic and Urdu. Providing pupils with a deeper understanding of their deen and fostering their spiritual and moral development alongside academic excellence.

Faith-Based Learning: Quran & Islamic Studies

At MMPS, we nurture a deep connection with faith through dedicated Quran and Islamic Studies, instilling a love for Islam from an early age. Our curriculum emphasizes the recitation, memorization, and understanding of the Quran, guiding students to embody its teachings in daily life.

We follow the Prophet’s ﷺ example, as he said:
“The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it.” (Bukhari)

Alongside Quranic learning, our Islamic Studies program covers Aqeedah (beliefs), Seerah (life of the Prophet ﷺ), and Fiqh (practical rulings), helping students build a strong moral compass. With engaging lessons, Nasheeds, and storytelling, we create an environment where faith thrives, and children develop love for their Creator and confidence in their Muslim identity.

Foundation Stage Curriculum – EYFS

The Foundation Stage applies to children from three years of age to the end of Reception year. Compulsory schooling begins at the start of the term after a child’s fifth birthday. The Foundation Stage is important in its own right, in preparing children for Year I and later schooling. The Early Learning Goals set out what is expected of most children by the end of the Foundation Stage.
